Morning Session: Ways of Seeing
Do you observe and give feedback to your students while you teach? How can you really see and sense your students’ asymmetries and injuries on a screen with no depth of field nor use of touch? In her workshop “Ways of Seeing” Deborah Wolk will include ways to “see” online (and in-person), observation practice with feedback, and honing the eye to see the 3-dimensional body in 2 dimensions. Deborah is a teacher in the Samamkaya Advanced Studies Program and this short workshop will help prepare you and give you a taste of material to be covered in that program.
Afternoon Session: Seeing and Modifying Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a condition that is hard for many teachers to see —virtual classes are making it harder!! Understanding the anatomy, and archetypal patterns of scoliosis will help you see more. Alternatively, for students with scoliosis understanding and feeling your own pattern is often muddled by sensory feedback in the scoliotic nervous system. This workshop brings students and teachers together to see and understand scoliotic patterns better and look for solutions for modifying asana for the scoliotic body/mind. This workshop is a great complement to Deborah’s Anatomy of Scoliosis classes!
